What is the cost of the course?

Is this course offered by Parsons Paris School of Design?
Yes. Inside the Business of Fashion and Luxury is an official, non-credit course from Parsons Paris designed especially for high school students. The course curriculum and content are created by Parsons Paris faculty with industry expert guest stars.
What age group is this course for?
This course is designed especially for high school students from 9th through 12th grade.
Is there financial aid for this course?
At this time, we don’t offer financial aid.

Applying

How do I apply?
Simply click on the link below. You’ll be guided through the application. It’s only a few pages, and should take no more than a few minutes. You won’t be required to provide transcripts or letters of recommendation. Basically, all we need to know is how to contact you and your parent or guardian — and your reasons for taking this course. Apply now
What are the application requirements?
As we mentioned, we are looking for basic information and why you’re interested. You can complete your statement with video and/or by uploading files that tell your story.
When do I find out if I’m accepted?
You’ll be notified via email within 5 business days.

Course Information

How is the course taught?
The course is taught online and is comprised of pre-recorded videos with the instructors, interactive assignments and activities, and includes live one-on-one sessions with a Mentor.
What is the time commitment for the course?
In total, the course will take 30 hours to complete from start to finish. You have the flexibility to complete the course work on your own schedule, while keeping in mind that all work must be completed before the end of the 2-week or 4-week course you’re enrolled in.

Depending upon your availability, you can choose between a 2-week option (~15 hour per week of work commitment) and a 4-week option (~7.5 hours per week of work commitment).
How long is this course?
Our course durations vary depending upon when you take the course. Currently, we offer 2-week sessions over the Summer or 4-week sessions during Fall and Spring to allow a slower pace during the school year. Regardless of your selection, either option contains the same content, sessions, and support. In total, the course will take 30 hours to complete from start to finish.

Note that you may continue to have view-only access to the course for 6 months from your course start date.
What if I don’t know which cohort fits my schedule? / Can I switch to a different course cohort?
Reach out to us at support@fashionluxury.parsons.edu or click on the red Support button on the bottom of this page to submit your question. If there is a space available in other cohorts, we will work with you to find one that best fits your schedule.

Note that we cannot accept program session changes fourteen (14) days or less from the initial or proposed program start date or once your program is in progress.
Will taking the Inside the Business of Fashion and Luxury course give you college credit?
No. However, attending the course and performing well may strengthen your application to any college or university.
Will taking the Inside the Business of Fashion and Luxury course increase my chances of being accepted into a Parsons degree program?
No. However, attending the course and performing well may strengthen your application to any college or university.

Certificate of Completion

Will I receive proof of completion or a certificate of some kind?
Yes. You will earn an official Certificate of Completion from Parsons Paris if you receive a grade of “Good” or better on 5 of 7 assignments as well as the final project. For more information, view the Academic Requirement section of our Terms of Use.

Assignments and Grading

How will you be graded?
Each unit assignment, as well as the final Insider’s Challenge will be assessed on a rubric of:

  • Exemplary - Work of exceptional quality, which often goes beyond the stated goals of the assignment
  • Excellent - Work of high or very high quality
  • Good - Good work that satisfies the requirements of the assignment
  • Incomplete - Work did not fully address the assignment requirements

    What are assignments like?
    You can view a sample of our syllabus here.

    Your final assignment is a project where you will demonstrate what you’ve learned. You’ll choose one of three exciting topics and let your creativity shine. You can complete the project in your choice of media, such as text, photography, video, collages, drawings or a mix. Best of all, you’ll be able to use this project in the future, whether applying to college or for an internship.
    How much time do you get to turn around a project?
    You will have until the end of the course to complete your projects.

    About the Instructors & Mentors

    Who teaches the course?
    Three instructors with deep expertise in the fashion and luxury industry:

    • Eros Erotokritos, designer and Paris boutique owner
    • Anna Krutiy, a marketer with experience in luxury brands
    • Badara Ndiaye, creative director and inspirational Paris fashion figure
    Who are the course mentors?
    Parsons’ mentors are current Parsons students or alumni that will work with you throughout the course. Your mentor will provide encouragement and direction on assignments, inspiration and the confidence to be successful. In short, you won’t need to go it alone.
    How do I connect with my Mentor?
    You'll have the opportunity to connect with your mentor virtually once a week during your course access period. Once logged into your syllabus in Canvas, you'll follow these directions to schedule meetings with your Mentor:

    1. Click on the calendar icon
    2. On the right hand side, click on the "Find Appointment" button
    3. Select calendar appointment dates that work with your schedule.
    4. Click "Reserve"

    Refund Policy Information

    What’s the refund policy?
    • Payments made to enroll in and attend the Inside the Business of Fashion and Luxury course are 100% refundable when requested fifteen (15) or more days prior to your scheduled program start date.
    • All payments become non-refundable fourteen (14) days prior to your scheduled program start date.

    Technical Requirements

    What are the technical requirements for the course?
    The site that houses our course is compatible with most browsers and devices. You can download the Canvas Student app on the App Store or Google Play.
    How long do I have access to the course?
    You must complete all of the assignments for your course by the end of your course session. You may have access to your course content after your session ends, but this access is not guaranteed.
